Graduated from Crescent High School, Mars Hill College, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Married to his childhood sweetheart, Janet Thomas Parnell.

Children: Lauren, Jamin, and Nicole

I have been in Youth Ministry since 1976 where I started as Summer Youth Minister for my home church, FBC, Iva, SC.   From there I took a part time, year round position at Homeland Park Baptist in Anderson.   After attending seminary at Southwestern I have been in full time Youth Ministry ever since.

Dr. Phil Briggs used to say, “I’m not training ‘Pastors in Waiting’ but Youth Ministers.”   I am one of them.   I love teaching students, challenging them to receive Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him.   I love being with students and teaching them how to minister to others.

Our philosophy is “Get It”, “Got It”, “Give It Away”.   That simply means to understand Christianity is more than doing the right things, it is a true relationship with Jesus.   Once you understand that, you will grow and develop a deeper relation than ever before.   Ultimately, you will long to share that relationship with others.   That’s what it’s all about.
