You have made it through the first week! That is something you should celebrate. You have delved into the first five books of the Bible. You have looked at everything from creation to the fall of Adam and Eve to the slavery of the Israelites in Exodus to the wandering and death of Moses in desert before the entering into the Promised Land. But now is the time to enter...
Read Joshua 1-6, 23-24
Now...go ahead and picture a great leader. Maybe Churchill, Jordan, Manning, Jackson (Stonewall that is), Lincoln, etc. Now think about how many of those men were like Joshua son of Nun in how they led.
Go ahead and reread for me Joshua 23:1-6.
Is your mind blown? I hope it isn't, but it is a little crazy to think through. Joshua epitomizes everything that was spoken to the Israelites by God through his servant and prophet Moses. Give some more credence to this truth that Joshua was the leader of ALL of the Israelites. They revered him as they did Moses as we read in Joshua 4:14, but we see how we should live. We see how any true, good leader should live.
Joshua speaks directly to us, though he lived thousands of years before us. He tells us that no matter how popular, important, wealthy we might become we are to always remember who is truly in control, be strong, be careful, be courageous, and to KNOW his Word and keep it at the forefront of all of our thoughts.
Is this you? Are you a leader on the football team, soccer team, chess club (Don't knock chess club. I have some good stories from those day of my life)? Are you popular? Are you looked to as a leader in your English class? Are you seen as a leader at work? Are you viewed as important or a leader here at church? Whether you answered YES or NO to those questions the truth remains the same. WE are to always remember who is truly in control, be strong, be careful, be courageous, and to KNOW his Word and keep it at the forefront of all of our thoughts.
