Survey Plan: Day 12

So...we have almost made it through the second week of this Survey Plan. Keep pressing on. Keep digging deep into the Word. Keep thinking about it throughout your day. Keep journaling about what you are reading.

Read 1 Samuel 15-20, 28, & 31 today.

I know that this is another day with a whole lot of Scripture, but do not look at this as a bad thing. Rather look at this as an absolute blessing. Look at this as another opportunity to dig into the Word of God. It is an opportunity to learn more about who God is. It is another opportunity to learn more about who we are as people.

Go back and take some time reading through 1 Samuel 17. This is the famous story of David and Goliath, but I do not want us to focus on the killing of Goliath by David. Rather, I want you to focus on why David even signed up for the battle. Look at the last sentence of 1 Samuel 26. It is a question that David posed to the Israelite soldiers.

David said, "For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?" There are a couple of words to describe David, boldness, bravery, courage, but most importantly faith. David pushes what we truly believe about who God is. Do we truly believe that he is the only true, living God? If we do, then do we truly act as such?

So...take a look at your life for me. What is your life about? What are your closest friends' lives about? Are you willing to confront sin like David was? The sin David was confronting in this story is the blaspheming of Goliath, the idolatry of the Philistines (and even the Israelites), and in all honesty the lack of faith displayed by king Saul. Are you like David? Do we truly believe that the gospel is enough? The salvation that God has provided through Jesus is enough, and that it absolutely changes the way we deal with every facet of our lives.
