I hope that your Spring Break is going well today. Enjoy it. Yet also spend some time with the Lord today through reading his word and in prayer. Enjoying your Spring Break does not have to exclude God.
Read 1 Kings 17-19 and 21 today.
No go back for me and reread the words of Elijah, who is one of the coolest guys in all of Scripture. These words are found in 1 Kings 18: 36-38. Elijah has just built the altar for God, and he has doused it with water three times. It should be almost impossible to burn up.
Look at the faith of Elijah. Look at his boldness. Look at his unhinging love for God alone. Look at his desire for the Israelites to remember that the Lord their God is one. Look at his obedience.
This is a man who has a lot to lose, mainly his life, but he does not care. This is what the Lord commanded him to do, and he has the utmost confidence that his Lord is alone true, good, right, and real. His trust is not in himself. Elijah knows that he cannot burn up this sacrifice. HE knows that no matter what his faith must be in God and God alone. Where is your faith today? Where is it at this very present moment as you are at home, on the beach, at the gym, on the couch, in the car, etc.?
