Survey Plan: Day 54

Andrew Barnes

FOR ALL THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS OUT THERE TODAY IS THE DAY. WE ARE HAVING A POOL PARTY AT THE RAUSCHES HOME TONIGHT FROM 6-8 PM. MAKE SURE YOU ARE THERE, AND DO NOT LET THE COLDER WEATHER SCARE YOU AWAY.

Today we are heading to Paul's first letter to the Christians in the city of Corinth, 1 Corinthians, and really there is not a whole lot of reading to be done today. So, make sure that you are really reading carefully, and asking the Holy Spirit the entire time to direct your mind and your heart. Ask him to show you something new even if you have read these chapters before.

Take for instance myself and what I was digging through this morning. As I was reading through some of 1 Corinthians I was drawn to a brief five words phrase in 1 Corinthians 1:23, "but we preach Christ crucified." Now, you might be thinking that I of all people should know that. Or maybe you are thinking, "Andrew, I already know that." Well...that is awesome, but not necessarily my point. I do know that, and that is what I confess. However, my wondering is if I am more like the Greeks some days who want wisdom, or maybe I am more like the Jews who want a sign or miracle or an emotion rather than just wanting more of Jesus.

This is what Paul is telling the Corinthians. He is questioning what they are all about, while he also reminds them what they should be all about, Jesus. So, are you all about Jesus? Or are you all about some girl or boy, some sport, being high in academics, having that nice car, working a lot, etc.? Or maybe even when it comes to church you want more games and less Jesus?

Go ahead and read 1 Corinthians 1-2 and 13 today. Let the Holy Spirit guide you today, and remember as McLeod said on Wednesday night he was challenging you to just spend 12 minutes in the Bible every day.
