GOOD MORNING ANDERSON!! I hope everyone is having a great morning. Do not forget that our last $5 Tuesday of the summer is tomorrow. We will be meeting in the Brickhouse from 12-2 PM, and make sure you sign up for both the Braves game next Tuesday August 2 and for Carowinds on August 9th.
Today it is time for us to jump back into the book of 2 Samuel. David is now king. So, how does he handle himself as king, and how does he respond to God.
Go ahead and read 2 Samuel 6-7. Take some time in these chapters today. Write. Read. Highlight. Take notes. Think deeply.
Now jump ahead all the way to the book of Matthew. Read Matthew 1:1-17.
So, jump back and look at the promise of God to David. HE makes a covenant with David in 2 Samuel 7:8-16 through the prophet Nathan. God says that his throne will be established forever, and as we see in Matthew 1 that this is the exact truth. The lineage of Christ goes through David. Matthew 1:1 opens by saying, "The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham"
The Word of God is always sure. He keeps his promises. He keeps his covenant. He is perfect and sure. All of our faith., trust, etc. needs to be in him alone, and we are given a phenomenal reminder of that right here.
