Course Descriptions, Room Assignments, Leaders, Material Costs

The Light and the Glory Part 2

Light&Glory_resized

Leader: Bill Caldwell – Room: SE105 – 12 week study
Materials Cost: $18.00 (not mandatory)

Did Columbus believe that God called him west to undiscovered lands? Does American democracy owe
its inception to the handful of Pilgrims that settled at Plymouth? If, indeed, there was a specific, divine
call upon this nation, is it still valid today?

The Light and the Glory answers these questions and many more for history buffs. As readers look at their nation’s history from God’s point of view, they will begin to have an idea of how much we owe to a very few–and how much is still at stake. Now revised and expanded for the first time in more than thirty years, The Light and the Glory is poised to show new readers just how special their country is.

What Love Is: The Letter of 1, 2, and 3 John

WhatLoveIs

Leader: Ashley Stone — Room SE202 — 7 week study
Materials Cost: $12.00

What Love Is, a 7 session study of 1, 2, & 3 John, encourages you to remain faithful to the truth. You will be challenged to look at contrasting themes such as walking in the light instead of darkness, truth versus
lies and deception, loving God more than loving the world, and the meaning of true fellowship and community rather than shallowness.

Theology of Work

TheologyofWork

Leader: Jim Motes – Room: SE203 – 12 week study
Materials Cost: $16.00

The Theology Behind Work. We all have work to do and most of us have jobs. Is there a difference in God’s eyes of each or are they both looked at the same in scripture. The Theology Behind Work is a scripture based study of the meaning of “work.” Is work a curse from God? Is all work acceptable to God? What work is approved of and blessed by God? Join us as we explore the Biblical perspective of our daily work.

The World As It Was When Jesus Came

TheWorldAsItWas

Leader: Mark Hopkins — Room SE101 – 6-7 week study
Materials Cost: $15.00

The history of the Old Testament ends with the Book of Nehemiah in 423 BC and there is no other history written in the scriptures until the birth of Christ approximately 400 years later. Between the last of the prophets of the Old Testament and the advent of Christ recorded in the four Gospels lies a period virtually unknown to most, and yet of great importance in understanding the scriptures. What was the political, social, and geographic world Jesus entered 2000 years ago? This course will provide a clear and concise explanation of the influences of the great empires and issues such as language translation, geography, and travel during that period of history. The final focus in this course is on the religious conflicts in Jerusalem and the surrounding area including presentations on the competing Jewish religious groups of the time, the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and Samaritans.

The Ten Commandments: Exodus 20

TenCommandments

Leaders: Larry Stone and Chase Stone – Room SE201 – 10 week study
No Materials Needed

Since 1935, when they were placed in the Supreme Court building as a reminder of our country’s biblical roots we have seen the Ten Commandments fading from the consciousness of America and, sadly, from Christians in general. In the 1950s and 1960s they were visible in many public properties all across America, but now we are left to ask if these Commandments are still valid in our world today. Are they out-dated, as some believe? In this day of disturbing moral and spiritual decline in our beloved nation, there is a desperate need for all of us to have a fresh awareness of the Ten Commandments and what God is saying to us through them. Join us as we unpack these commands from God and what they mean in our lives today.

The Holy Spirit Unleashed in You: Study of Acts

HolySpiritUnleashedinYou_resized

Leader: Dawn Badger – Room: SE102 – 13 week study (Wednesday Evenings)
Materials Cost: $12.00

Miracles . . . boldness . . . courage to preach the Word of God. Do you want this power, power to witness for Christ in hostile circumstances – your workplace, maybe even your home? Learn how to depend on the power of the Spirit from the Lord’s dynamic work among first believers.

This class is already underway but you can join today!

Mid-Week Prayer Meeting & Bible Study

Prayer Meeting

Leader: Dr. Don Cox – Worship Center – 6:00 p.m.

Other Vineyard Classes Meeting During the Week:

(Note Day and Time Classes are Available)

Thursday Morning 6:00 a.m. Men’s Study
Genesis: A Comprehensive Study

Genesis

Leader: Art Bruce – Room SE102 – 12 week study
Materials Cost: None

This study has been written for the purpose of highlighting the work of Christ throughout the book of Genesis. Jesus revealed Himself as the key character of the Scriptures in John 5:39-40, when He confronted the Pharisees, saying, “…you search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life, but it is they that bear witness of Me, yet you refuse to come to Me that you may have life.” The Scriptures that Christ was referring to was the Law and the Prophets. He wanted the Pharisees to understand that those Scriptures were about Him and His work, not them and their works. Christ was simply announcing that He was the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15. He was the One, sent by God, to crush the skull of the serpent. Class starts February 5th

Friday Morning 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Ladies Study
Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman

Esther

Leader: Julia Davis – Room SE105 – 9 week study
Materials Cost: $15.00

In Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman, Beth Moore peels back the layers of history to show how very contemporary and applicable the Old Testament story of Esther is to a woman’s life today. If you’ve ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the Bible study for you.
Class starts March 6th
