The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People

Leader: Bill Caldwell — Room SE105 — 12 week study
Materials Cost: $12.00

The “Greatest Story Ever Told” is more than just a cliché. God goes to great lengths to rescue lost and hurting people. That is what The Story is all about—the story of the Bible, God’s great love affair with humanity. The Story sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. Using the clear, accessible text of the NIV Bible, it allows the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible to read like a novel. And like any good story, The Story is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption—and this story’s true!

Growing in Christ’s Image

Knowing the Bible 101

Leader: Rev. Jim Motes — Room SE203 – 12 week study
Materials Cost: $10.00

Are you new to the Bible? Are you and your Bible old friends? Are you searching for a new way to look at and understand your Bible? Yes, in Bible 101 we will survey the entire Bible. We will work to discover what the 40+ writers, who wrote over a period of 1,500 years that resulted in the 66 documents that make up our Bible, were trying to tell us. Here’s a clue… it’s Jesus. It’s a good refresher course or a great course for those new to the Bible. See you on Wednesday evenings this spring!

It Starts at Home – DVD Study

Leader: Pastor Evan Dickson – Room SE105 – 6 week study
Materials Cost: $

Who is shaping what your kids believe?
In these busy, hectic days we take our kids to sports practices, games, music lessons, school tutoring and other activities to give our children the best opportunities for success. But what if we’re missing the chance to teach them what matters most? Our children can grow up smart, athletic, popular and polite but lack a vibrant relationship with Christ. The few hours they spend in church each week can be helpful, but it cannot nurture a faith in our kids that will withstand the trials that are on the horizon. Church alone cannot teach them, we must start at home. But many parents feel ill equipped to develop the faith of their children.

In these six sessions, we will explore biblical and tangible ways that parents—couples, single parents, blended families and grandparents—can build a legacy of faith for their children.

Each session includes interviews with everyday parents talking about their own doubts, fears and desires. Gary Thomas, Matt Chandler, and Kurt and Olivia Bruner provide powerful teaching that will help you give your kids what they need to build a solid framework for lifelong faith.

Six video-driven sessions:
Session 1 – Faith: It Starts At Home (38 min.)
Session 2 – Marriage: Your Children Are Watching (27 min.)
Session 3 – Relationships: Your First Priority (31 min.)
Session 4 – Truth: What Are Your Kids Learning? (26 min.)
Session 5 – Communication: Each Child is Unique (26 min.)
Session 6 – Character: Preparing Your Kids For the Real World (26 min.)

Hard Questions, Real Answers: Hot Topics for Today

Leader: Larry Stone – Room: SE201 – 6 week study
No materials needed

This class offers a great opportunity to discuss some hot topics that many of us struggle with. Topics such as gambling (is it wrong to play the lottery)? Or the thought of “capital punishment” (An eye for an eye). Or what about abortion, predestination, the rapture. One topic that we all tend to struggle with is “what happens to people who have never heard the gospel”. Join me and I’ll let you choose the subject you are most interested in each week. We will discuss our views but more importantly we’ll see what the Bible has to say.

Survey of the Four Gospels and the Letters of Paul the Apostle

Leader: Dr. Mark Hopkins – Room: SE101 – 12 week study
No Materials Needed

This twelve week course will serve as an overview of the four Gospels and the thirteen letters of Paul the Apostle. Early focus in the course will be on the Political and Geographical issues that influenced the scriptures. An effort will be made to show how each of the Gospel writers looked at the life of Jesus with a different perspective. During the study of the letters of Paul special emphasis will be given to the treatment of women as Paul communicated with his various churches and followers. The final focus during the course will be on Paul’s influence on the structure and organization of our Christian churches.

Christians are still subject to Satan’s attacks. He is determined to disrupt the lives of believers, destroy their ministry, and steal their joy. Sadly, those who have “fallen” may not recognize the devil’s schemes until they have already been caught in a snare of defeat. In this biblical guide to authentic repentance and restoration, Beth examines why devoted followers of Jesus Christ can fall into the traps of Satan and how to find their way back to God.

Perhaps no Old Testament event so dramatically illustrates God’s persistent desire to relate to His children as the building of the tabernacle in the wilderness. Through the tabernacle God initiated a deeper relationship with His Chosen People by bringing reconciliation and revealing His glory. And certainly, no Old Testament event so richly prefigures the coming of the true Tabernacle, Jesus Christ. You will be challenged to prepare your heart, like the holy of holies, to become a home for His love and glory – a dwelling place for the Most High God.
