A Conference on Praying for Revival in Your Church

What would it look like if God’s people stopped playing at religion and started running toward revival? That is the question Concord Baptist gathered to answer.

What is Revival?

A Simple, Urgent Definition

“Revival is a passionate encounter with Jesus that consumes us with His mission and His glory.”
Session 1 — Running into Revival
“Revival is a season of breakthroughs in Word, deed and power, producing a new normal in kingdom experience and fruitfulness.”
Session 2 — How Movements of God Happen

Revival is not a church event. It is not a week of special services or a wave of emotion. The word itself simply means new life — and when God brings it, everything changes. Not just feelings in the room, but the way an entire community lives.

Throughout Scripture and church history, the same pattern repeats: God’s people face pressure, they move desperately toward Him in prayer, He gathers them together, and then He moves in the multitudes. Every great awakening has followed this pattern. And it is not over.

“Most of us have about as much of God as we want.
Because revival will change you.”

Session 1 — Running into Revival

For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

— 1 Thessalonians 1:8

The Sessions

Six Messages. One Invitation.

Whether you attended or are discovering these sessions for the first time, they are meant to be heard, shared, and prayed over.

SESSION 1

Running into Revival

And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all. — Luke 6:19

What does it look like to run toward revival rather than wait for it? Drawing from Luke 6, this opening session unpacks the biblical and historical pattern of how God has always moved — and gives a compelling picture of what it means to get in position for what He is doing right now. From Iran to the Pacific Northwest, God is on the move. The question is whether we want in on it.

“I want us to view revival like God’s finish line — where He wants us to be — and we’re running toward that tape, running into revival.”— Session 1

“Am I ignitable? Saturate me with the oil of the Spirit, that I may be aflame.”
— Jim Elliot — quoted in Session 1

SESSION 2

How Movements of God Happen

For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.
 — 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

What does a movement of God actually look like? Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians was written just three to nine months after the church was planted — and already the gospel had spread across an entire region. This session digs into what made that possible: a people who simply believed the right gospel, loved the right examples, and couldn’t stop talking about Jesus.

“God uses revival to connect His work in the past to His plans for the future.”
— Session 2

“There is a demonic lullaby playing in the churches of this country. These people are sleepy. Now I’m getting sleepy. Let’s go back home.”
— Iranian believer — quoted in Session 2

Believe the Right Gospel
Have the Right Examples
Be the Right Example
Turn from False Gods
Say Your Next ‘Yes’ to God

SESSION 3

Revival in Satan’s Shadow

I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith.  — Revelation 2:13

The church at Pergamum worshipped Jesus under the literal shadow of Zeus’ throne — a monument to demonic power that towered over the city. Yet Jesus said: you held fast. This session speaks directly into the darkness of our current cultural moment and calls the church to stop being afraid, start being dangerously bold, and never compromise what we know to be true.

“Don’t you believe that we are immortal until the Lord is finished with us? Let’s go have an adventure.”— Session 3

Just Stay with Jesus
Choose Dangerous Boldness
Don’t Compromise with Culture
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.”

— C.S. Lewis — quoted in Session 3

SESSION 4

The Biblical Secret to Taking Revival Everywhere You Go

Always be eager to practice hospitality.  — Romans 12:13

The surprising, reproducible, completely biblical key to spreading revival is not a program, a budget, or a platform. It is a meal. This session draws from the life of Jesus — who was constantly criticized for eating with the wrong people — to show how opening your table is one of the most powerful missionary acts you can take. And it starts three times a day.

“Shared meals are sacred moments.”— Session 4

“Lord, who could I invite and include in — a meal?”— Session 4

“Don’t start with a big program. Don’t suddenly think you can add something to your church budget and begin. Start personally and start in your home. I dare you. Begin by opening your home for community.” — Francis Schaeffer — quoted in Session 4

SESSION 5

How to Know God

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.  — John 17:3

Revival is not ultimately about a feeling or an event. It is about knowing God. Through the story of Moses at the burning bush, this session unpacks four ways God reveals Himself to those who will stop and listen: I see you. I hear you. I come to you. I send you. You cannot pray for revival and remain unchanged.

Four Movements from the Burning Bush:

  • I See You — Exodus 3:7

  • I Hear You

  • I Come to You

  • I Send You

SESSION 6

Yes Changes Everything

Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.  — Acts 10:4

Revival has always hinged on one word: Yes. From the Moravians under Zinzendorf to John Wesley and George Whitefield, from the Second Great Awakening to the Jesus Movement — history turns on ordinary people who say yes to God. This closing session asks the question that the entire conference has been building toward: Who is God looking for right now? And will you be one of them?

Three Things God Is Looking For

Warriors Who Fight on Their Knees
Leaders Who Pioneer Movements
Followers Who Hear God and Say Yes
“Revival is a passionate encounter with Jesus that consumes you for His mission and His glory.”

 — Session 6

“I am no longer my own, but Yours. Put me to what You will, place me with whom You will. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed for You or laid aside for You, exalted for You or brought low for You. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.”

— John Wesley — quoted in Session 6

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
— Psalm 85:6

“Every day we have 1,440 minutes to live. How much time do we spend with Him in prayer or sharing Him with others? I ask God every single day to come alive — that’s revival — in my life.”

— Paul Stewart — quoted in Session 3 (spoke these words while having a stroke in an ambulance)

Note: Paul Stewart was a blind man with kidney failure, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple strokes, and was described as one of the most joy-filled people the speaker ever knew.
