Rev. Michael Kinard   -

Considering what’s happened recently, let’s remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5:44-45:

“But I tell you, love our enemies. Bless those who curse you. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for those who treat you badly and hurt you. Then you will be children of your Father in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both good and bad people. He sends rain to those who do right and those who do wrong.”

The murder of Charlie Kirk was shocking and very sad. Some people responded with love by holding prayer services, both planned and spontaneous. But others mocked his death, which is heartbreaking. Charlie was a husband, a father, a son, and a leader.

So, what should we do? The Bible tells us to love, bless, help, and pray for those who hurt us. That’s not easy. The world is broken, and many people are lost in sin. The devil wants to “steal, kill, and destroy,” but Jesus came to give us a better life.

We pray for the person who killed Charlie Kirk. We ask God to save him, help him feel sorry, and forgive him. We also pray that he takes responsibility for what he did and the consequences that will come. And YES, we pray for Charlie’s wife, Erika, his family, and the organization he led.

This is about what God can do with something meant for harm. God can turn it into something powerful, a worldwide revival! Many people are now open to hearing the gospel, just like after 9/11.

Let’s show love, kindness, and prayer to everyone we meet. “Charlie Kirk wasn’t the Light, but he carried the Light of Jesus.” As Christians, we carry that Light too.

Let’s “Shine for Jesus”, just like Mimi says!

In Christ’s love and with our love,

Rev. Michael and Lori Kinard (and Michaela)
