Rev. Michael Kinard   -

Hey Forever Young Family and Friends,

Matthew 16:16 – Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

In this verse, Peter makes a strong statement of faith. He says that Jesus is the Christ, the one the Jews were waiting for—the Messiah! Peter believes this without any doubt. But he also says Jesus is “the Son of the Living God.” That means Jesus is God’s Son, sent from the one true, living God. This reminds us that God is real and cares about what happens in our lives.

What should we learn from this verse? Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God, is real! As believers, we need to trust and believe in Jesus every day. Sometimes, when we see bad things happening in the world, it’s easy to lose focus on Jesus. Peter saw what was happening to Jesus and got scared. Even though Peter promised he would never deny Jesus, he did it anyway…three times! If Peter could mess up, so can we.

Today, listen to this message and agree with it in your heart and mind. Remember, even when we try our best, we can still make mistakes. If you have denied Jesus, say you’re sorry and, like Peter after Jesus rose from the dead, be a witness for Jesus wherever you go!
